~*~Do~It~Yourself~ Shelf~*~

Making a unique shelf is super easy and super cheap!
Here is what you need…
  • Tape Measure
  • Piece of wood ~ I used driftwood that I found on the beach ~
    FREE
  • Rope ~ I chose two kinds of rope
  • Hot glue gun
  • Glue for the glue gun
  • 2~Ceiling anchors
  • Drill
  • Drill Bit (large enough to feed the rope
    through)
The first thing you need to do to make your fabulous shelf, is to measure from where you want the shelf to be on the wall up to the ceiling.
Take that measurement and double it, then add on a few inches.  You will need two pieces of rope at this measurement.
Next you need to go and get your rope.  I purchased mine at the Caseville True Value Hardware Store just down the street from me.  Purchase your two pieces of rope in the length you measured for and about 3 feet of a contrasting or matching color.
Now measure about two inches in from the side and two inches in from the front/back of wood in each corner, that is where the rope will go. Next drill a hole in each corner.  Feed the rope through the freshly drilled holes, tying a knot to hold the shelf in place. Double check to make sure both sides are even.
You can stop here or you can add the contrasting rope to the top section on each side.  To do this start winding the rope about 8 inches from the
top, working upwards; use the hot glue to hold each section in place as you go.
Let the hot glue dry and set.
Install the ceiling anchors and hang your shelf.
Load it up with pictures and trinkets.
Total cost ~ Under 8 bucks!
Now go make yourself a unique shelf.
Don’t be afraid to do things differently!
